Statement of Faith and Identity
We accept the Bible as our authority in matters of Faith and Practice. We believe that Christians should enjoy the freedom to read and interpret Scriptures under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Nevertheless, we wish to affirm the things we hold in common not as a creed imposed upon our members, but as an affirmation of those beliefs, which form the basis for our unity.
We believe in the one, true God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord. As God’s Only Son, Born of the Virgin Mary, Jesus lived and taught the Word of God, died on a cross for the sins of humanity and was resurrected from the dead. As the only perfect image of God, the Word made flesh, He reveals the nature of God and the life God intended for humanity.
We believe in the need of every human being for salvation through Jesus Christ alone and for the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in the life of every Christian believer.
We believe that God continues to work in history and history will culminate in the return of Christ.
We believe that the Holy Scripture consisting of the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament of The Christian Bible was written by human authors under the inspiration of God. Supremely, in Jesus Christ, it reveals the nature and work of God. The Holy Bible serves as a guide for daily life and is the final all sufficient authority in matters of faith and practice.
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, the visible expression of His life in the world. The local church is a community of believers in Christ who gather for worship, encouragement, fellowship, accountability and mission.
We believe Christ left two ordinances to be observed by the church, the Baptism of Believers and the Lord’s Supper.
Church Covenant
As a gathering of believers, united by faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and called together by the Holy Spirit, we enter into this covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We commit to walk together in Christian love, to encourage and support one another, to participate together in worship and to support with our time, tithes and offerings, resources and talents, the mission and ministry of our church, it’s work against sin and injustice in the world, the relief of the poor and the spread of Christ’s gospel throughout all nations.
We will strive to grow in our Christian lives through corporate worship, individual and collective Bible study, prayer and devotion. We will endeavour to develop and exercise our spiritual gifts and to recognize and affirm those gifts in others.
We will try to cultivate the attributes of patience, understanding and compassion, to ask for and offer forgiveness, to model in our relationships the principles, which Christ taught us in Scripture.
We will try to live our lives with integrity and justice, and to treat each other with honour and respect. We will strive to follow Christ’s example and to be His witnesses in our homes and in the world. As opportunities arise we will communicate the news of God’s grace to those around us.
We understand that Christ’s witness extends beyond the boundaries of this congregation and we pledge to carry out the principles of this covenant wherever God may call us. Therefore, we agree that when we leave this place we will search for another church where we can live out the spirit of this covenant
We covenant to practice brotherly love, remembering each other in prayer and to aid each other in sickness or distress, always mindful of the admonitions of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Concerning Marriage
- God's intention for marriage is established throughout the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.
- God ordained marriage as a voluntary union for life of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24; St. Matthew 19:5-6; Ephesians 5:31; Romans 1:26-27, I Corinthians 6:9)
- Christian Marriage is not merely a contract between two persons; but is a covenant ratified in the presence of God. (Malachi 2:14)
- In Christian marriages, the Church acts as an agent of God's blessing, as a primary witness to the vows pledged and a supportive community to the married couple and their subsequent family.
- A healthy marriage is the best foundation for families and the raising of children.
